Blog Post #1 - Introduce Yourself! - DrMKDove

In the field Post [Post Title] - type Introduction - and your first and last name.

Then, compose your introduction.  Components should include: where you are from; identify your graduate program area; state your present position and briefly describe your professional work/responsibilities; and, please share if you have previously taken an online undergraduate/graduate course and/or online training.

Thank you in advance for posting your introduction!  Candidates must make their initial blog post on or before Wednesday, August 28, 2013 (5 PM) followed by two more additional entries to other candidates' introductory posts by Friday, August 30, 2013 (5 PM).

This initial Blog Post #1 should be fairly short.
For future blog posts - please note that we are restricted to 4,096 characters for our Blog entries.  For example a Tweet is limited to 140 characters.  An easy way to calculate how many characters/letters you have written for your Blog entry is to go to
http://www.lettercount.com/
and copy and past your Blog entry in their form - and it will automatically calculate how many characters are contained in your Blog response - before you try to copy and past on the SPED 6900 Blog.

  1. Hello Cyber Classmates! My name is Karen Pavlansky. I am in the Intervention Specialist Program M&M. I am beginning my 5th year as a Kindergarten Teacher in Niles. I live in Canfield with my adopted mom and dog Penny. This is my first online class and first Blog!

  2. Hello Cyber SPED 6900 Classmates! My name is Amanda Barbone, and I am currently working towards my masters in Autism and other related services. I have worked as an inclusion teacher for three years and this coming school year I will be working at Austintown Intermediate School in a self contained ED(emotionally disturbed) classroom through Mahoning County. This is my fourth online class I have taken as I just completed the online highly qualified math and language arts 7-12 course work through Central Education Service Center. I currently live in Ellsworth with my two year old twins and my mom.

    1. Hello Amanda, I seen you were in my other class this evening also. It takes a very patient person to work with Middle School students, but middle school students that are ED will be a rewarding challenge. I look forward to hearing about strategies that you use in your classroom.

    2. Hi Amanda! I was interested to know if all the ED classes in your district are self contained? I taught fourth grade inclusion where the ED students came into my classroom for half the day, but if needed had the option to work in the resource room. The school I was in was working hard to not have the ED students self contained, I just wondered your thoughts.

  3. Hello! My name is Christina Neeley, I live with my husband, 16 year old son, 13 year old daughter and 6 month old son in Hubbard. I am in the Intervention Specialist Program Mild/Moderate. Currently I teach in a K-6 self-contained classroom at Summit Academy located within Belmont Pines Hospital. I co-teach with a fantastic teacher that I worked with prior to this position. I modify Language Arts & Social Studies lessons to four different ability levels. This is my first online class.

  6. Hello everyone my name is Agostino Ragozzino and have just recently come back to school after approximately 16 years. My initial degree is in Accounting and have spent the majority of my career in the finance industry. I am a divorced father of 2 children: Alyssa, 15 and Dominic, 12. I also cannot forget my 5 year old dachsund Sophie. I live in Girard, OH where I was raised and enjoy my family, friends, and love Notre Dame football. I am also very excited that I have finally been able to add this post. It has been trying. LOL! I look forward to getting to know all of you. I am also very excited to learn all that we will learn together.
