Introduction: Bethany Quetot

Hello Everyone!
My name is Bethany Quetot. I am married with two kids, Aubrie and Levi. I am from Columbiana, Ohio and received my undergrad degree from Youngstown State University in 2010. I am pursuing the mild to moderate program. I have taken several online courses in the past, all on different online platforms. I currently work as a resource teacher for Buckeye Online School for Success (BOSS), which is a K-12 online school. I enjoy my job, along with the virtual learning environment that giving students the opportunity to learn from home.  Many students that I have spoken with have had a negative experience at their previous brick and mortar school, so I enjoy knowing that BOSS gives kids the opportunity to learn somewhere they feel safe. As a resource teacher, I am responsible to assist special education students during the virtual class and change assignments in accordance with their IEPs.

  1. Hi Bethany,
Columbiana, Ohio is one of my favorite places in the Tri-County area, as my father and I run a Farmer's Market in the summertime and thus, get a fair portion of our product from farms in Columbiana. As for your professional work however, I am intrigued with your experiences with BOSS, and look forward to hearing more about them throughout the semester. All the best, Richie

  2. Hi Bethany! This past year is the most I have heard about online schools. From what I gather from other online teachers it is an excellent opportunity for students that do not function well in a school setting. I am curious about how it works exactly and would like to inquire about it when you have some time. I look forward to getting to know you and everyone in the group!!

  3. Bethany,

I feel as though you are at such an advantage working in online courses as you are an online teacher and have much experience in the online platform! I have to admit, I've always been in question about becoming an online teacher at ECOT or BOSS because I feared that I would miss the classroom experience, but after years of being in a computer lab, I've had similar experiences with students negatively impacted in the classroom and feeling safer in the lab. It's refreshing to hear that you enjoy being an online teacher.

    1. Thanks Jessica! All the online courses that I have taken have been so different each time. Even at work this year we have to learn a completely new platform for the virtual classroom. So, outside of BOSS, I still feel like I don't know what I am going to get myself into with online courses! I hope your experience in the computer lab will come in handy for the online course as well.

  4. Bethany,
Like the others, the buzz lately has been about online schools. My friend just recently accepted a job with ECOT. It amazes me all that you can do for children to provide them an environment for them to learn online. The brick and mortal school is not an option for everyone. Thanks for doing the job you do!!
