Hello All :)
My name is Rumbi Mupinga and I am from Harare, Zimbabwe in the southern part of Africa. I have lived all over the U.S. and recently made a move to the Youngstown area from Kent. I graduated from Kent State University in December 2013 in Psychology. I am now trying to pursue my education as an Intervention Specialist. Before I graduated I started working at Independence of Portage County which is an agency that fosters to adults with disabilities. I have been there for 3 years as a Therapeutic Support Professional and I have developed a huge passion for individuals with special needs. I have also been involved with Camp Sunshine of Aurora for 2 years and worked alongside Dr. Gongola, who is my inspiration. I am very dedicated to promoting inclusion in the community. I am more interested in working with children as to adults based off of my quirky and social personality. I am a big kid at heart. This is my 5th online class but my 1st at YSU, so I am eager to see how the course goes. :)
Hey Rumbi! Your bio that you have shared in orientation and class is so amazing. To someone like me who doesn't get out of Ohio much, you seem to be so cultured. I think that your journey has been a great one for sure and it's so awesome that you have found yourself in Youngstown continuing your education in order to promote inclusion and earn a higher degree in something that you're passionate about. I hope you do not get offended as time passes and I begin asking you tons of questions about your experience at Camp Sunshine! While I am looking at just mild/moderate licensure in Intervention, I am extremely eager to learn about ALL learners and disabilities! I look forward to our next couple of years in the program together!! :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rumbi. It is extremely interesting to hear about where you have worked and how you are working with individuals with special needs. I have not had the chance to work directly with individuals with special needs yet, but I am excited to start. I am looking into Camp Sunshine, so I may be contacting you for more information about it. Also, I would love to here about more stories about Camp Sunshine. From what I have hear, the children seem great and fun to be around. I have also taken online courses but not here at YSU, so we will be in the same situation! I am excited to share different stories with you and our classmates the rest of the semester.
ReplyDeleteYou always seem to be so positive and full of passion when you are speaking in class. It will be good to be working with you.
