Introduction- Courtney Ronghi
Hello Everyone! I am very excited to get started. I am from Niles. I graduated with my Bachelor of Science in Education- Intervention Specialist with Mild/ Moderate licensure in Spring 2013. I am pursuing a Master of Science in Education: Special Education- Autism and Related Disabilities Option with Licensure Moderate/ Intense. I am currently in my third year teaching at Warren City Schools. I am an Intervention Specialist for the K-2 cross categorical classroom at the Jefferson building. I have students with severe cognitive disabilities. These students are with me for most of the day. My responsibilities include teaching Reading and Math aligning to students' IEP goals/objectives, teaching nonacademic skills like following an object schedule, and managing classroom educational aides. I have never taken an online course or online training. This is my first time!
Hi Courtney,
ReplyDeleteI will be very interested in your perspectives as a teacher that has experience with IEPs. As a nurse for a school district I am being called to many meetings for 504's and IEP's. Although the nurses and educators work side by side, I sometimes feel their "languages" are very different. Being a nurse in the school setting requires an entirely different set of skills and knowledge. The nursing license program has really helped me. This is my first non-nursing class. I very excited, but know I am a bit out of my element.
I admire you job so much. I loved working in the small group settings with some amazing students my short time as a intervention tutor, I wish I would of been more informed of educational degrees when I started school because I know I would of chosen intervention. The dedication you have to your students shows in your willingness to further your education just to better serve them.
ReplyDeleteHello Courtney,
ReplyDeleteI truly enjoyed reading your blog and learning about your professional background. You will do wonderful in this program and the children you work with are so lucky to have you. I also would like to work in a classroom setting while assisting client with educational goals and objectives. I really enjoy working along side with the teachers and my past experience was to integrate positive behaviors while decreasing negative frustration type of behaviors. I also sat in on many IEP meetings and I found them very insightful and want to learn more techniques on how to assist clients especially diagnosed under the Spectrum of Autism.
